When selecting your hose assembly, it is always necessary to ensure the suitability of the material with the chemical, gas or granulate that will flow through it during its process. This includes checking the materials of the hose fittings for chemicals as well. If a PTFE coated hose is an excellent material to process your media, it may not be compatible with the selected carbon steel hose fittings for your chemical hose assembly. You should then consider other materials for hose fittings, such as stainless steel (SS), brass or hastelloy. High purity processes and other chemical applications may require PTFE encapsulated SS hose fittings. Whatever medium you are going to use, make sure it is compatible with the chemical resistant hose you select.
Towards the top right of this page is our chemical hose compatibility tool that you can use to check that the materials are suitable for the media you want. Click the arrow to the right of the “select chemical” field to display the list of chemicals. Then click on the chemical to extract a table that shows four different types of compatibility for the common materials we work with when making chemical hose assemblies. Compatibility tables show grades for media interaction with PTFE, 316 SS, 304 SS, carbon steel and brass. The most common assemblies made by the TecHose are PTFE coated hoses with a 304 SS outer braid for the reinforcement. 316L stainless steel hoses and hose cuffs 304 SS. If your specific chemical, gas, or granulate is not listed in the chemical hoses compatibility charts, please send it to us through our Contact Form and we will help you determine which chemical resistant hose configuration is best.
Why are PTFE lined hoses your chemical hose of choice?
PTFE lined hose with SS braid reinforcement is extremely flexible and versatile for use as a chemical hose. For example, our B-Flex and C-Flex PTFE hoses are ideal for low to high pressure and a wide range of temperatures. They are easy to drain and can handle a variety of chemical fluids, gases and granulates due to their chemically resistant properties. Best of all, they have a non-aged surface, resulting in a durable and durable chemical hose solution for your manufacturing and control process. Read more in our Blog article on chemical hoses.
